Shine Brightly by Accessing Your Inner Light

We often speak about what it means to access your "inner light," and to shine brightly in the world. The idea is commonly used as a metaphor to allude to someone who is living on what seems to be their natural path. But what does this light really mean?

It is said that light itself is contained in the Vedas and Vedic source scriptures such as the Upanishads and the Bhagavad Gita, and in the Vedic sciences, such as Ayurveda and Yoga. This light refers to the capacity to transmit knowingness, understanding, and knowledge meant to enable enlightenment. We typically carry darkness in our consciousness, and remain foggy with false beliefs. When we turn to this ancient system of wisdom, these false beliefs become unneeded and eventually dissolve — and we are able to let them go.

When we do so, our inner light begins to shine brightly. Our natural light becomes enhanced with knowledge, and begins to become the source of inner knowing.

The good news, then, is that anything that you feel lights you up is really your own light shining from within. The source of that light is liberating knowledge and wisdom that sets you free from the clutches of darkness. Has this light be enabled by a teacher? A workshop or seminar? A podcast or book?

When we are in touch with what lights us up, we begin to move through the world with more grace and more ability to be of service in a way that brings value to ourselves, others, and the world. This is why we seek the wisdom of both ancient scriptures as well as a teacher to help us glean their teachings. Our inner light is always waiting for the spark of cultivated learning to set it ablaze — it is always available to us.
